Privacy

Last updated 7 October 2026

Smidge has no accounts, no ads, no cookies and no tracking. Your guesses are stored under a random player id so the game, the board and your stats work. You can delete all of it with one tap at the bottom of this page.

Who runs Smidge

Smidge is run by [full name], [country], who is the data controller for this site. Contact: [email protected]. This is also the contact point for authorities and for reporting a name on the board.

What we collect, and why

The first three are needed to give you the game you asked to play (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)). Security and game statistics rest on our legitimate interest in running a safe game and improving it (Art. 6(1)(f)); you can object to them at any time.

Other players can see your board name, your daily score and emoji row, and your guesses once they have answered the same question. We don't sell or share your data, show ads, build profiles or make automated decisions about you.

On your device

Smidge keeps your progress, stats and a sign-in token in your browser's local storage. The game can't work without them, so under EU ePrivacy rules they don't need consent. There are no cookies, no analytics scripts and no third-party trackers, and the fonts are served from smidge.day rather than Google.

Who handles it for us

They process data only on our instructions, under data processing agreements. Transfers out of the EU, EEA and UK are covered by the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and, where the provider is certified, the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

How long we keep it

Board names

Keep nicknames friendly and don't use anyone else's name, including your own full name if you'd rather stay private. We remove names that are offensive, illegal or pretend to be someone else. To report one, email [email protected] with the name and the date you saw it.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct, delete or get a copy of your data, and to restrict or object to how it's used. Delete everything yourself below. For anything else, email [email protected] with your player id; we reply within one month. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

Changes

If this changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
